My name is Tim Silva, and I have been designing since early 2005.
I create beautiful web designs and graphical user interfaces (GUIs) with quality at the core of my workflow and philosophy. My designs are bold, aesthetically rich, and detail oriented because every pixel counts when creating exceptional user experiences.

I find fulfillment in designing because there are so many different approaches to take on any given project. This means that designs truly have endless potentials even though they must exist within restrictions and boundaries. It reminds me of the mathematical analogy that there is an infinite number of fractions that can exist between any two numbers. Sometimes, however, I like to break those walls down and turn my designs into static pieces of art.
Both my designs and artworks have earned awards and features over the past few years. Here are some key highlights:
My passion for design did not take root from one experience or source.
It is an interest of mine that I have come to realize over a decade of experimenting with and playing in the digital world.
I actually have passions way beyond design. I film and produce video, I love photography, I love skateboarding and bouncing around on trampolines, I am a close-up magician and with OCD (Obsessive Cardistry Disorder), and I'm a full on digital pack rat.
My first significant interest in computers developed in 2000 when I was exposed to video game emulation software because it was the first time that I realized that computers, believe it or not, could actually offer me something of value. In 2002 I discovered video production and started making my own movies with friends. In late 2004, my interests began to change after I was introduced to the world-wide-web and graphic design through the Introduction to Web Design class that my local high school offered. That one class changed everything for me. I felt like I had the tools and the skills to accomplish anything that I wanted. It was a truly liberating time period in my life.
Some of my earliest graphic designs and website attempts are pretty embarrassing. I was inspired and motivated, but it took me years to aquire the skills and understandings to create my ideas.
Since 2005, I have been actively participating on internet forums while learning about various design processes, theories, and styles. Many of the communities that I joined went offline or became dormant in one way or another. This eventually led me towards starting and operating a community with a group of fellow designers who shared similar values that would actually last and develop. In 2008 encide.net was born. It has turned into a prestigious, invite-only community that is widely recognized and talked about within the design community.
Encide is mostly known for the artists that worked on the highly publicized and awesome 2009 Interface Battlebay. However, the community itself does all sorts of design, art, and development.
Now days I am finishing up college at UC Davis while freelancing on the side. After I graduate I plan to move full time into design. I have a lot to come, so stay tuned. I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit about me and what I do. If you haven't already seen my portfolio, check it out!
