This tutorial is all about creating an interesting orb with depth and style. Many orbs are boring, but the end result of this one can give you endless ideas. The point of this is to get you to experiment with details and layers. For tech interfaces you need to know how to organize and handle layers and folders, the best interfaces out there look complex because they simple are. Hopefully this can spark your imagination.
When working with flash, interactivity is a really important part of any project. It gives the user visual feedback that something is happening. This is a heavily interactive button that is perfect for any navigation bar.
Custom Right Click - Flash - Video - (701 KB - Sept. 2006)
This is by far one of the coolest features I have found in flash. You can create your own right click context menu with complete control of what it says, what it does, and what it looks like. It also adds a very professional touch to any flash web site or piece. You can put copyright information in it, so that no one can steal the flash file and claim it as their own.
Line Separator - Photoshop - Video - (1.4 MB - Sept. 2006)
This is a very cool way of giving a flat web site some depth. This effect is extremely simple to create and if you understand the technique, you can produce many interesting looking designs with it.
The picture tutorial for borders was just an introduction for people who are fairly new with photoshop. This tutorial was randomly made with no practice to show you the power of the technique. You can just make some random gradients and end up with a rather fresh and interesting looking result. The layout is in mini-form, but it can easily be resized. This simple and endless technique will not disappoint you if you learn it well.
Vents are often used in interfaces and designs now days, and there are tons of ways to go about making them. In this tutorial I will share with you a basic idea of how I create vents, you can use what you learn from this tutorial to tweak it out and make your unique technique for making vents. Try giving it some curvy shapes or what ever you can come up with.
Borders are what you on the edges of web sites to give them depth and maybe even a little bit of eye candy. There are borders on many web sites, and they can be on yours too. If you like this tutorial and want to learn more about borders, check out my video tutorial on advanced borders.
This is something you see a lot more than you probably know. Interface Reflections are the part under an interface that gives it depth and creates the illusion that it is reflecting off a glossy glass floor. Adding this to an interface makes it look so much more polished that it is a no-brainer. It is quite simple to create.
